TUESDAY TEN – FALL LIPSTICK PICKS

lipstick-tuesday-10

I love transitioning to fall makeup looks. One easy way to do that is just with the color of your lipstick. I am really a nudes girl, but when fall rolls around it’s fun to incorporate some deeper tones and bold vamp colors. Here’s a selection of my favorite lip colors for fall.

Mac Heroine – This is a slightly brighter, plum-purple with warm undertones and a satin finish. I love Mac lipsticks that have a creamy consistency and great color payoff. This is definitely a pop of bright color for fall. With a price tag of $17, I would put this at an average priced lipstick and high end quality.

Colourpop Love Bug – This is a terracotta colored liquid matte lipstick. When I think of fall, I think of the leaves changing and the color rust. This lipstick gives a nice pop of fall color to any outfit. Plus it’s only $6 which is why I always gravitate to Colourpop vs. ABH.

Nyx Tea Rose – This matte lipstick by Nyx is less than $6 and has excellent coverage for a drugstore end lipstick. I love the Tea Rose color for fall because it’s a more muted mauve and makes me think of curling up in a cozy sweater with my favorite book.

Rimmel Airy Fairy – This is a blush based nude with a light sparkle and sheer coverage. It’s a cool toned nude which is great for any season, but very nice for a natural fall look. This is also a drugstore brand lipstick, but for less than $6 it’s such a steal.

Yves Saint Laurent #003 – This color is called Ultimate beige which is a peachy nude color. I absolutely love the packaging for this lipstick and it’s a very smooth silky lip color with great coverage. This lipstick is the high end one I am suggesting, since most people don’t want to spend over $30 on a lipstick. However, this is a color that goes with every outfit and can be worn all year long. It is definitely a staple color.

Nyx Chocolate Crepe – This is an intense butter gloss by Nyx, which is a nude with more mocha tones. I love this color when I want a deeper nude lip that has a bit of sheen. It’s starts out as a thick sticky texture, but over time the glossiness wears down and leaves a nice color behind.

L’Oreal Blake’s Red – Blake Lively’s shade is best described as an iconic red. It’s more on the cool side, kind of a bright cherry color. It gives a bold look that’s a bit Marilyn Monroe like. As for texture, the L’Oréal Riche has a modern lipstick feel: lightweight, balmy and it doesn’t dry out your lips. The finish isn’t quite a matte, just a creaminess with bold rich pigments. For less than $9 this lipstick is easy on your wallet.

Nars Liv – is described as a “deep aubergine.” It’s a cool-toned black cherry purple with a glossy shine. This color is definitely the Vamp lipstick for fall and winter. This lipstick is also on the high end spectrum at $32, but gives a dramatic depth to your lips.

Urban Decay Nighthawk – This brown red lipstick is such a dark sexy neutral shade that will take you from a fall day to an glamourous evening out on the town. The coverage on Urban Decay lipsticks is excellent.

Urban Decay Bad Blood – This lipstick is a red with blue undertones, which looks great on every skin tone. This is a matte lipstick that doesn’t dry your lips out and like Mac is a mid range priced lipstick at $17.

I hope this selection helps you pick a few colors for your fall palette. XoXo

Lipstick – Nyx Tres Leches

I am so happy it’s Thursday and so close to the weekend!! Once a week my boyfriend and I attempt to get out of the house, just the two of us, even if it’s just to eat dinner without the kids and enjoy a cocktail. I love dressing up for an evening out. It makes me feel girly and pretty! I don’t wear makeup throughout the week, since I’m just interacting mostly with my computer, so a date night out is a fun time for me to experiment with new looks.

On one of our last date nights, I wore this great blush swing dress. The fabric is so light and the cowl neck is such a great neckline for long pendant necklaces. Plus!!! This dress has pockets, which is such a win for me. What girl doesn’t love a dress with pockets?!? I paired it with a super cute pair of wedges that are blush and rose gold my fave colors. When I saw these wedges at Ross I just about swooned!! The earrings and necklace that I’m wearing are from one of my Rocksbox sets. I love how I can get unlimited amounts of gorgeous designer jewelry for only $19 a month. The earrings are by A.V. Max and the necklace is by Kendra Scott. Use the code FLAMINGOSPINEAPPLESXOXO to get your first month free at Rocksbox.

This dress happened to be sold out, but I linked some similar swing dresses. I love a simply jersey swing/sheath dress because they look great on every body type and it’s such a great staple piece for any wardrobe. You can dress it up with heels, or wedges. You can create a boho look with some booties and a fun hat. Or, you can keep it casual with some flats, or sandals and low key jewelry…even wear it as a beach cover up. You will see me in blush on repeat…I think the color compliments all skin tones.

XoXo

I love fall colors!! When I did my seasonal color analysis it told me that the most flattering colors on me are autumn colors. This means olive green, jade, taupe, burgundy, salmon pink, terracotta, and golds. My favorite color this fall though is definitely falling in the burgundy category. There are just so many cute things in that shade. Lipsticks, nail polish, sweaters, dresses, purses, and shoes. I’ve linked below a few of the items that I have purchased in burgundy so far this fall.

Colourpop has become my new addiction. I never ordered from them before because I’m really weird and I like to only order from places where I can get free shipping, and I am really big on being able to return something if I don’t like it. I heard a lot of not so great things about Colourpop’s customer service and how you can only exchange something if they sent you the wrong item, or if it’s damaged. However…their products are hands down Aaaaamazing. The liquid lipstick I would rate on par with ABH liquid lipstick and I really love how the eyeshadows and blushes are more of a cream base rather than a powder which is great pigment with zero fall out. The prices are also extremely reasonable, so keep an eye out for when they have specials going on for free domestic shipping!!

I have two favorite monthly subscriptions besides my Netflix, which is a necessary item in my book. Ipsy for my beauty items and Rocksbox for my jewelry. These are two items that I am always changing out and trying something new. Both of these types of items can get expensive as well when you are like me and want $65 Kendra Scott earrings every week, or $24 Tarte Mascara. Therefore, these two subscriptions at $10/month and $19/month fulfil my urge for new beauty products and jewelry, without breaking the bank.

I have been trying out a few different things for doing my nails at home. I go get a pedicure once a month, but I like to change my nail polish a lot and I have quite a collection of polishes, so it’s very convenient for me to just do my own nails. I really have fallen in love with Jamberry for their nail wraps and their gel polish. The two items stay on my nails for up to two weeks, which is great for when I want something to last on vacation without any chips. I also live by my Seche Base coat and Top coat when I am using regular polish. With those two items I can make a manicure last 5-7 days when usually its starts chipping in 2-3 days.

I love fall, pumpkins, and Halloween. I like fall décor, even though I don’t really take the time to decorate my house too much. I enjoy taking my kids to the pumpkin patch and picking a pumpkin to carve, even though I REALLY REALLY don’t want to carve the pumpkin due to the mess hahaha. I also, really enjoy Halloween and the changing my mind about 50 times over a year from one Halloween to the next on what costume I’m going to be only to either not dress up because I’m lazy, or come up with something simple completely last minute. Well hey at least I got my kids costumes taken care of a couple of weeks prior to Halloween this year (Ash & Deadpool), so I’m doing pretty good. Does anyone have a really cool costume put together for Halloween this year?

I am really sad this time of year when we are heading into fall and Florida has no fall. We have like two months of fall when it’s supposed to be winter and everyone else has been able to wear sweaters for months ahead of us. It makes me want to wear sweaters and boots anyways and just sweat my butt off. However, I do feel lucky that I’m heading for a weekend at the beach the first weekend of November and not many other people will be able to be wearing bikinis that time of the year. However, sweater weather please come quickly after.
