SATURDAY SIX – JUNE RECAP

SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP

Happy Saturday Fashionistas! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Saturday Six recap and I wanted to share a bit of what I have been loving from June and a fun recent experience I had. So here are six of my current favorites.

Fynd Fashion Boutique

SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP
Floral Two Piece Shorts Set, Druzy Bracelets, and Statement Earrings.
SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP
Fuchsia Crop Top and Tassel Pom-Pom Earrings.
SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP
Adelyn Rae Prescilla Slip Dress, Druzy Bracelet, and Statement Earrings.

I recently found this adorable boutique right in my own backyard called Fynd Fashion. They carry an array of trendy items such a jewelry, clutches, clothing, and swimwear. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces from them currently and if you shop in store, or online using the code NIKKI then you will get 15% off all your purchases. They even carry a couple of the same brands that you can get at Nordstrom which I love because there isn’t a Nordstrom in Orlando anymore.

Fringe Heels

SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP

I am so in love with bright red for summer and these fringe heels are so on trend. They are so comfortable because they have a low block heel. Plus they lace up, so you can tie them around the ankle, or criss-cross them up your legs. Mine are by Aquazzura, but I have linked a dupe pair by Sole Society that are under $70!!!

3D Mink Lashes

I don’t know about you, but I love long, full eyelashes. Here is a photo of me wearing my favorite pair of 3D Mink Lashes from their thinline design which are called Vegas. I also love the ones called New York because one its my favorite place, and two they are so wispy. I can wear these with any of my outfits and can be re-worn multiple times if you take care of them. These are my go to lashes for my OOTD. Stay tuned for an eyelash tutorial coming soon to my YouTube!

Universal Orlando

One thing I really enjoy is being a tourist in my own city. There are so many great places in Orlando that I don’t really discover because Orlando is so spread out. I had a great opportunity to attend the very first #UOInstaMeet at Universal’s Volcano Bay thanks to Instagrammers Orlando. They also put me and a group of bloggers up for an evening at the Loews Sapphire Falls hotel and everything was fabulous.

The hotel is immaculate and quite reasonably priced for such a luxurious hotel. At less that $200 a night and giving you access to all the parks an hour before they open to the public, it’s a fabulous deal. The decor was beautiful and the pool seemed like a water park itself. I can’t wait to go back and spend a weekend there (on my own dime) in August and then I will give you an entire recap of the hotel and all the tips and tricks to visiting Volcano Bay.

Volcano Bay was like a tropical paradise. The employees toured us around the park so that we could capture photos from all different angles. I could definitely get used to lounging and watching the waves at the wave pool. I can’t wait to take my kids back there because I know it’ll be a way to entertain them and have tons of fun myself too. Check out the post on Universal Orlando’s blog and see all the different photos people took during the meet.

Turkish Soap Operas

I really enjoy foreign films because I feel like I not only pick up a bit of another language, but I also combine watching TV and reading. Turkish soap operas are great for us binge watchers because there are so many episodes. My current two favorites are 1001 Nights (Binbir Gece) and Magnificent Century (Muhteşem Yüzyıl). I now know how to say Yes, No, Please, Mom, and Dad in Turkish hahahaha they really do say please ALOT.

Zinfandel Wine

I have always been a sweet white wine drinker, or even a white Zinfandel connoisseur. However, I recently tried an amazing red Zinfandel called The Federalist and now it’s my favorite red. This wine was actually created to salute our first president of the United States, G.W. This Zinfandel has aromas of plums, cherries, and cinnamon spice with a long smooth finish.

What are you currently loving? Leave me a comment below?

FLAMINGO ROMPER – BLOGHER17 ORLANDO

FLAMINGO ROMPER BLOGHER17

Happy Friday Fashionistas!! I wore this adorable flamingo romper to my first blogger conference last weekend. I wanted to share not only the details of this romper, which is under $20, but also everything I did and learned at BlogHer17!

OOTD FLAMINGO ROMPER

There are so many fun details on this romper and it totally matched the BlogHer theme of flamingos and pineapples. If you know anything about me, then you know that flamingos are my jam!! Give me anything with flamingos all over them and that’s winning in my book! It was such a hot day here in sunny Florida, having shorts and short sleeves really saved the day!! I paired a blush lace bralette under it as well because I don’t know about you, but I always feel more secure when wearing a bra. My Seven Dial wedges that are blush and rose gold were comfortable for walking around the conference and matched the flamingos on the romper perfectly! I linked a similar pair since mine are no longer available.

BLOGHER17 AT A GLANCE

There were many different speakers at this year’s conference including Chelsea Clinton and Serena Williams. I’m sorry, but I was so distracted by everything going on at the conference (squirrel) that I don’t remember what they talked about during the Keynotes. I feel like it was very female oriented but not necessarily very tutorial oriented, so I hope I get more tips and tricks taught at the next one!

The photo booth wall was amazing and I loved the flamingos and pineapples everywhere on the decor. Spending time with my *Hermes Crew* (Laila’s Little Finds, Metanoia Living, Kreadiv Misfit, and Lucielle Salomon) was THE BEST part of the conference!! We slept 5 to a room in an awesome Delta Hotel by Marriott, since it was much less expensive and less crowded than the hotel the conference was held in. Make sure you go to a conference with the women you love and want to spend time with that way even if it just ends up being a girls trip, you will have tons of fun.

Thank you Fiorella @metanoialiving for the Hotel hookup!!

The break out session that I really learned a lot from was one on SEO by Chloe and Stephan Spencer a father/daughter duo. They gave so much detailed advice and was the best hour and a half I spent learning while at the conference. They also had an entire expo room filled with different brands that we could go learn about and make connections with. They didn’t have any brands that I felt really connected the fashion aspect of my blog, but there were a lot of great companies that I know you, my readers, would want to learn more about! It was a well rounded conference and they tried to cater to all different types of bloggers.

One of the coolest evening activities was that a group of us were able to attend an early screening of “Girls Trip” starring Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, Tiffany Haddish, and Queen Latifah. It was so hilarious and I thought I was going to fall over from laughing so hard. It was filmed in New Orleans which was pretty cool, since I just visited there recently. You NEED to go see it when it comes out in theaters July 21st.

I hope everyone had a wonderful week and that you have some fun activities planned for the weekend! Have you ever attended a BlogHer conference? I’m so glad I got to meet all you lovely ladies that I had only known through Instagram before!!

VINTAGE FLORAL DRESS AT NAPOLEON HOUSE

VINTAGE FLORAL DRESS AT NAPOLEON HOUSE

A few days ago I came home from my trip to New Orleans, this trip was a last minute one, since our flight to the Virgin Islands was canceled. Anything last minute is really hard for me because I am a big planner and try to research everything before I go somewhere. Therefore, when we arrived, I was feeling a bit nervous and completely at a loss of what to do first. I knew we wanted to go to the French Quarter, so we decided to wing it, get out a map, and walk there.

While we were sitting in the Cathedral in the French Quarter hungry, I found a restaurant on Yelp with great reviews. No one was really listening and I don’t think anyone knew what they were in the mood for so we just walked in the direction towards where I said the place was. The hilarious part is that they all pointed out the restaurant that I chose before any of us knew it was Napoleon House. But, I looked down when we walked through the doorway, saw Napoleon House and definitely gave an I told you so.

The food was divine at Napoleon House! We ate there twice! The first day I had an Avocado Stuffed with Shrimp Salad and the second time I had Roast Beef and Gouda Sandwich on Crusty Bread with a delicious Potato Salad on the side. Our fabulous bartender Mario made not only a delicious Italian Cream Soda (mine was peach flavored), but also a really refreshing cocktail with Pimms and lemonade. Then the General Manager, Chris, gave us a complete tour of the building. The Napoleon House happens to be one of the few landmarks in New Orleans and a favorite of tourists and locals alike. Most people aren’t allowed to go out on the balcony and it made me a bit nervous, but since he let us, I ventured out!

FINANCIAL TIP

Here a few trips for traveling on a budget that I wanted to share with you! Our trip was very last minute and we had already shelled out a few thousand dollars for our original trip. Therefore, New Orleans had to be kept low cost.

  1. DO NOT FLY SPIRIT AIR TO SAVE MONEY! Haha, ok no that’s not really my first tip, but really don’t fly with them. They canceled our flight and we had to dispute the charges with our bank, they were awful. My suggestion is not to fly with a cheaper airline to save money and to actually book your flight directly through the airline. My Mom used to work for a few airlines and my Step Dad is a freight pilot, they say fly Delta, of Jet Blue and pinch pennies elsewhere.
  2. Use rewards programs like Marriot Rewards, or Hilton Honors to book your hotel. You can get the BEST rates that way, even better than military discounts, or AAA. Many times they have what they call “off site” hotels that are still owned by them. We stayed at an Embassy Suites which had two rooms and since it was two couples we were able to split it.
  3. Look up restaurants on google and yelp to check the reviews, menu, and pricing. We ate at restaurants that were at a max of “$$”, which is mid range. Food and alcohol can eat into a huge portion of your budget, so also try to get a hotel that includes a free breakfast.
  4. Walk, walk, and walk some more. Transportation can really add up and if you rent a car you have to add in gas and parking. We used Uber some and even rode a trolley once while in New Orleans, but mostly we walked, so pack a pair of walking shoes whenever you travel.

I hope you enjoyed this post and my new favorite dress!! New Orleans wasn’t my favorite place to visit, but Napoleon House was truly worth the trip!! Do you have a favorite place in New Orleans, or a favorite trip you have been on?
