I was introduced to Jergens products at a young age by my mother and have been using them my whole life. Since, I baked myself in tanning beds and out in the sun every chance that I got when I was younger…now my skin suffers from dryness. Summer time is especially worse for me because I am outdoors so much more and in and out of the water. Which did you know that if you don’t hydrate your skin within 3 minutes of getting out of the water that the water evaporates and can leave your skin dryer than before?? Eek that is bad summer time mojo.

For years I have been using the Jergens Natural Glow Lotion, but I don’t always remember to lotion my skin when I am done taking a bath, or shower, especially within that 3 minute time frame. Therefore, when I saw the Jergens® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer, I knew this was a great chance to change up my moisturizing routine!

When I think of a great moisturizer for my body, my first thought is coconut oil. So I picked up from my local Walmart the Jergens® Wet Skin™ Moisturizer with Refreshing Coconut Oil 10 oz. This is meant to be used in the shower, or as you are getting out of the tub while you are still wet. When you apply moisturizer while you are still wet, it locks in the hydration much better and you can then put on a robe and dry your hair while letting the lotion sink into your skin.

I love how the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer feels so light weight and not greasy, slides on so smoothly to your damp skin, and locks in that instant hydration so that you are feeling soft all day long. It’s very easy to apply and has usage instructions on the back of the bottle if you are unsure of how to use it. I don’t feel like the wet skin routine takes me longer than using regular moisturizer, because while the lotion is sinking into my skin, I finish the rest of my after shower routine. Then once I’m dry, my skin is perfectly soft and moisturized. My skin feels like it stays fully hydrated for at least 24 hours and I love how I’m not having to reapply heavy moisturizer during these hot summer months.

Jergens has been trusted for decades by women to keep their skin looking radiant everyday. I love how they created this product which helps me remember to take care of my skin on a daily basis even with my busy lifestyle. I purchased both the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer with Refreshing Coconut Oil 10 oz. and the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer with Cherry Almond Essence 10 oz. in the skin care aisle of my local Walmart and they are currently on sale for less than $6.00!! The Cherry Almond Essence scent is exclusive to Walmart and smells Ahh-mazing!! They also make it with Argan Oil and Monoi Oil if you have different preferences for your skin!

HOW TO PACK FOR A SUMMER VACATION + A VERA BRADLEY GIVEAWAY

PACK SUMMER VACATION VERA BRADLEY

Happy Tuesday fashionistas! In one week, I will be heading off on my summer vacation woot woot! I am an avid over packer and I really am not a fan of this chore haha, therefore I wanted to save your brain and your suitcase and assist you with some packing tips! When the manager at my local Vera Bradley reached out to me about collaborating, I knew this would be a great time to share with you some of the amazing products they have to help you with your traveling needs!

PACK SUMMER VACATION VERA BRADLEY

*This post is in collaboration with Vera Bradley and these products were gifted for me to review, but all opinions expressed here are my own.

First thing first, is your carry-on luggage. This should really contain the items that you consider to be most essential and would need within the first 24 hours of your trip. Sometimes luggage gets delayed, or lost and you don’t want to be left stranded without your most needed items.

PACK SUMMER VACATION VERA BRADLEY

Here are few tips when packing your carry on:

  • Make sure to pack all of your most valuable items in your carry-on, including jewelry, cameras, and designer bags.
  • Pack a change of clothes (including underwear!) just in case your checked bag gets lost (knock on wood).
  • For a beach vacation, make sure to pack a bathing suit and travel sunscreen, this way you aren’t forced to buy these items for a higher price when you reach your destination.
  • Some other important items – chargers, meds, headphones, a book and anything you will need to be comfortable on the plane!

Here’s a quick look into my carry-on…on the right side, I pack my most valuable items including jewelry and a few pairs of my sandals. I use the Vera Bradley Travel Jewelry Organizer – inside it has two large and four small clear pockets, plus two additional elastic slip pockets, and one padded ring strap.

Other items I pack in my carry-on include:

  • My Specter Wireless Headphones, so I can listen to music, or movies on the plane.
  • My Canon T4i camera and my action camera, for taking blog photos and getting any fun video while traveling.
  • Straw clutches and my Vera Bradley Straw Beach Tote.
  • An extra bikini
  • All of my sunglasses (This pair is my fave because they are prescription)
  • A change of clothing (plus bra & underwear)
  • Essential makeup & toiletries under 3 oz each
  • Chargers for all of my equipment
  • My iPad Mini and laptop

Bathrooms when you travel, are not always set up to easily set out all of your toiletries. This is where a Hanging Organizer comes in handy! I make sure to find travel size toiletries, or to get some small containers to put some of my favorite beauty and skin care products into, this frees up way more space and then you can also pack them into your carry on! Remember the TSA size items need to be 3 oz, or less.

Makeup is a whole other ball game as well! I only like to bring whats necessary when traveling, but that includes makeup and brushes!! The great thing about the Vera Bradley travel collection, is that they have different cosmetics cases based off of what you need. I picked the Large Blush & Brush Makeup Case, which has pockets to hold all of my makeup and spots for my brushes as well, this way I can keep everything together in one case.

I am so in love with this bright tropical pattern, which is perfect for summer!!

Moving onto checked baggage! I always attempt to pack way more than I should into my checked luggage… lately I have been weighing it ahead of time to make sure its under 50 lbs! When planning out my clothing for a trip, it really is a big help for me to create an excel spreadsheet. I create outfits by day and try to decide which pieces I can wear more than once and what accessories will go with the different outfits. Then I lay everything out on my bed to help me get a visual of the outfits and so that I don’t forget anything!

PACK SUMMER VACATION VERA BRADLEY

Since I always need to figure out ways to fit more clothing in my suitcase (already told you I had over packer problems haha) these awesome Vera Bradley Expandable Packing Cubes have been a god send. The Medium Cube is great for thin materials like tops and light weight dresses. The Large Cube is what you would use for thicker items like jeans, jackets, and heavier dresses. The best way to use these, are to unzip them completely and then roll all of your clothing and pack it tightly. Zip the cube closed and then zip the second zipper compressing all the clothing inside to at least half of the original size. This will really help you stay more organized and then you can use these to put the dirty clothing in during your trip. Here’s what I was able to fit inside the two packing cubes: 1 dress, 4 cover ups, 1 jeans, 1 skirt, 4 shorts, and 8 tops (plus there was still room for more).

Here are a few tips for your checked bag:
  • Lay out your outfits on your bed before you pack them so you can make sure you have everything
  • If you’re packing purses/bags, fill them up! I like to put purses inside of purses to save space and help them keep their shape.
  • Pack the majority of your toiletries & makeup in your checked luggage, because there is no size limit
  • Use balled up tissue paper to help shoes keep their shape.
  • Pack multiple swimsuits because you don’t want to have to wait around for one to dry.
  • Also, do not pack delicate straw hats! I always carry mine onto the plane with me.
Today is the last day of the Vera Bradley Memorial Day Sale as well!! Select patterns are 50% off online only, so head on over and check it out before it ends!!

PACK SUMMER VACATION VERA BRADLEY
Last, but not least…come and hang out with me at an in store event at Vera Bradley in the Orlando Mall at Millenia on June 17th if you are in the area! The event will take place from 1-3 p.m. and during this time you will be able to take an extra 15% off your purchases when you shop in store, or call in to shop! I have an additional coupon for you to use as well for $30 off a purchase of $125, or more, so if you would like one leave a comment and I will get that to you!! There will also be a giveaway during this awesome event!! Vera Bradley will be giving one lucky winner a pair of Flip Flops in the color Rhumba and this really cute Straw Beach Wristlet, which is great for summer! These are two items that you want for your next beach trip! Side note, if you can’t make it into the store call (407) 354-4495 and you can get entered into the giveaway remotely plus you can still take advantage of the one day sale.

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

A few months ago I joined a really great group of women called Style Collective. When I first joined, it was simply because my friend Maya had told me I should join and that they help you grow as a blogger. I didn’t really know too much about the site, or the woman, Annie Spano, that created Style Collective. More recently, I started reading the site more and discovering all the great things to help us bloggers grow. I also started reading about Annie and everything she has done to help our group that she started. Then, when I saw that she needed volunteers to be regional leaders for the different major cities that Style Collective members are in, I virtually raised my hand. I knew with my love for meeting other women, drinking mimosas, and planning events, that this would be a great way for me to help out.

Then, this month, Annie launched the first Style Collective podcast, “Becoming Fearless“. She launched this podcast on her birthday and wanted all the women in different cities to get together and celebrate, discuss the podcast and we could grow together. Myself and Kim, the other Orlando regional leader, were completely on board for planning a meet up. After we did a doodle poll and got a Saturday date, we knew a Brunch would be the best choice! So much team work went into this event and I thought it would be great to share with you how you can plan a girls brunch on a budget. You don’t have to overspend to have a good time and make it a great event.

LOCATION & FOOD

The very first task was finding the right location. We wanted a place that would be able to easily fit about 15 people and of course have an option for unlimited mimosas!! Luckily we found the perfect brunch spot at The Stubborn Mule in downtown Orlando. They had a great brunch menu, reasonably priced, and only $10 for unlimited mimosas. All the ladies paid for their own meals which keeps the cost down, since we didn’t have to try to pay to have anything catered. The restaurant was kind enough to give us three different appetizers for free, so that we could try a bit more of their menu.

They also had a private room that we used. This was a great way to be able to keep our conversation to ourselves and stay away from the noise of the restaurant. There wasn’t a charge for the room either, just a food minimum, which was easy to meet since we had a group over ten. Make sure to check around with restaurants about room options.

How yummy looking is what I ordered?! I definitely want to go back and try something else off the menu.

DECOR & DELEGATING

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

A good leader knows what their strong suits are and when they should delegate. I mean one person, even two can’t necessarily do it all. I am so glad that we have our decor Queen, The Style Delegate Maya (haha delegate and delegate, ok yes I’m a dork) on our squad. Maya, Kim, and I went shopping together in order to split the costs. We had a plan in mind focusing on items we can reuse, the Style Collective color scheme of blush and gold, plus we stopped first in the dollar section of Target because we were trying not to spend too much.

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

We made a list ahead of time of what everyone already had that we could bring and since Maya had already hosted an event before she was a great source. Why buy something if on of your girls has something you can use! Then we thought about which items we could DIY and Kim made the vases from mason jars. We used Style Collective printables and printed them at home. I also created a sign that we can use for all of our events! I created an image using Photoshop and then had it printed at Walmart as a 20 x 30 poster. Then I used spray adhesive and attached it to a foam poster board from Dollar Tree. This cost me less than $20!

GOODY BAGS & PRIZES

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

This was a complete team effort. We were very lucky to all have different contacts to partner with and we each reached out to someone in order to have so fun items for all the ladies to take home with them. In exchange for some social media shout outs five lovely brands gave some gifts for the ladies to have.

Magpie Naturals, a local beauty company gave everyone homemade bath bombs and soap. Laila happens to be an ambassador for Shoe Dazzle, so they sent a couple goodies, plus a gift card to raffle. An upcoming local candy company called Sky Candy gave us homemade lollipops and those were divine. Origins gave us some samples of their top sellers, plus a free mini facial. Finally, our awesome Style Collective Sis Mikaela, owner of Mikaela J Designs, made us custom wine glasses! How cute are all of these items!!

PHOTOGRAPHY

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

There is no need to hire a photographer for an event. Request that everyone take photos using their phones and cameras and then share them in a Dropbox after the event. Just make sure to give credit where credit is due! Plus we had a lovely waitress who took our group photos outside. Then we all helped each other out taking photos so we had some cute pictures of our outfits!! Girls just wanna have fun!!

I hope some of these tips can help you plan a girls brunch! If you love decor as much as I do, then you should head over tomorrow to Maya’s blog, The Style Delegate to see how she beautified the room we used for the brunch and her decorating tips!
