Hey there babes, quick question for you all! Have you ever been at the pool, or the beach and needed to put up your hair, but you realize *epic fail* you forgot to bring a hair tie! Oh no, you think you are completely done with, your hair is going to get all wet, ratty, and out of control. What’s a girl to do??? Well ladies, I am hear to share my no hair tie braid hack with you, which will help you out in any random situation that you have forgotten your hair tie.

NO HAIR TIE BRAID

First, gather all your hair to one side and separate it into three sections. Start braiding your hair as normal, but don’t separate each strand at the bottom. Allow the hair at the bottom of the braid to catch on each other.

Then once you get towards the end of the braid, take one of the holes in the section of your braid and feed the tail of the braid through it and pull down to tighten. This creates a slip knot in the bottom and now you have a no hair tie braid!

I am actually the last one of my friends to really ever wear my hair up and it’s normally only when my hair is lacking it’s normal luster. Which, this is bound to happen after one too many dives into chlorine. One way I love to brighten up my hair, in-between expensive trips to the salon, is to save money by coloring my hair at home with Schwarzkopf Keratin Color. I know for many people this sounds scary, but truly it’s simple!

SAVE $ COLORING YOUR HAIR AT HOME

I like to hunt for my perfect shade of Schwarzkopf Keratin Color at Walmart because that’s where I find it for the best price. I take my ends and match it to the color on the side of the box to find the shade that best matches my current color. I’m not trying to change my hair completely, but I love the fact that Keratin Color has a range of flattering colors and cares for your hair. BONUS: there is a pre-treatment to use on your dry ends which will help provide less breakage and it makes your hair so smooth and shiny after dyeing. I used Schwarzkopf Keratin Color in Pearl Blonde #12 which matched my ends perfectly, lightened my roots, and gave me a nice glossy shine. Coloring your hair at home is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

**Don’t forget to do a patch test first on your hair to make sure that you are not allergic and that it doesn’t turn your hair a color you wouldn’t want. Plus always wear gloves for safety purposes and use an old towel to cover your clothing.

  1. Put on your gloves and first apply the pre-treatment product #1 all over the ends of your hair.
  2. Then, pour the Color Creme #2a into the applicator bottle #2b. Tightly replace the top and mix well. Apply starting at your roots and follow the timing on the instruction sheet. I kept on my roots for 20 minutes and on the rest of my hair and ends for 10 minutes.
  3. Rinse out the color until your water runs clear, then apply the Keratin Care Complex Conditioner #3 onto your hair and leave for 3 minutes.

See my before and after!

SATURDAY SIX – JUNE RECAP

SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP

Happy Saturday Fashionistas! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Saturday Six recap and I wanted to share a bit of what I have been loving from June and a fun recent experience I had. So here are six of my current favorites.

Fynd Fashion Boutique

SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP
Floral Two Piece Shorts Set, Druzy Bracelets, and Statement Earrings.
SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP
Fuchsia Crop Top and Tassel Pom-Pom Earrings.
SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP
Adelyn Rae Prescilla Slip Dress, Druzy Bracelet, and Statement Earrings.

I recently found this adorable boutique right in my own backyard called Fynd Fashion. They carry an array of trendy items such a jewelry, clutches, clothing, and swimwear. Here are a couple of my favorite pieces from them currently and if you shop in store, or online using the code NIKKI then you will get 15% off all your purchases. They even carry a couple of the same brands that you can get at Nordstrom which I love because there isn’t a Nordstrom in Orlando anymore.

Fringe Heels

SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP

I am so in love with bright red for summer and these fringe heels are so on trend. They are so comfortable because they have a low block heel. Plus they lace up, so you can tie them around the ankle, or criss-cross them up your legs. Mine are by Aquazzura, but I have linked a dupe pair by Sole Society that are under $70!!!

3D Mink Lashes

SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP SATURDAY SIX - JUNE RECAP

I don’t know about you, but I love long, full eyelashes. Here is a photo of me wearing my favorite pair of 3D Mink Lashes from their thinline design which are called Vegas. I also love the ones called New York because one its my favorite place, and two they are so wispy. I can wear these with any of my outfits and can be re-worn multiple times if you take care of them. These are my go to lashes for my OOTD. Stay tuned for an eyelash tutorial coming soon to my YouTube!

Universal Orlando

One thing I really enjoy is being a tourist in my own city. There are so many great places in Orlando that I don’t really discover because Orlando is so spread out. I had a great opportunity to attend the very first #UOInstaMeet at Universal’s Volcano Bay thanks to Instagrammers Orlando. They also put me and a group of bloggers up for an evening at the Loews Sapphire Falls hotel and everything was fabulous.

The hotel is immaculate and quite reasonably priced for such a luxurious hotel. At less that $200 a night and giving you access to all the parks an hour before they open to the public, it’s a fabulous deal. The decor was beautiful and the pool seemed like a water park itself. I can’t wait to go back and spend a weekend there (on my own dime) in August and then I will give you an entire recap of the hotel and all the tips and tricks to visiting Volcano Bay.

Volcano Bay was like a tropical paradise. The employees toured us around the park so that we could capture photos from all different angles. I could definitely get used to lounging and watching the waves at the wave pool. I can’t wait to take my kids back there because I know it’ll be a way to entertain them and have tons of fun myself too. Check out the post on Universal Orlando’s blog and see all the different photos people took during the meet.

Turkish Soap Operas

I really enjoy foreign films because I feel like I not only pick up a bit of another language, but I also combine watching TV and reading. Turkish soap operas are great for us binge watchers because there are so many episodes. My current two favorites are 1001 Nights (Binbir Gece) and Magnificent Century (Muhteşem Yüzyıl). I now know how to say Yes, No, Please, Mom, and Dad in Turkish hahahaha they really do say please ALOT.

Zinfandel Wine

I have always been a sweet white wine drinker, or even a white Zinfandel connoisseur. However, I recently tried an amazing red Zinfandel called The Federalist and now it’s my favorite red. This wine was actually created to salute our first president of the United States, G.W. This Zinfandel has aromas of plums, cherries, and cinnamon spice with a long smooth finish.

Summer’s in full bloom!  This is the time of year that the sun shines brighter for much longer in the day, which makes it the perfect season for bright vivid photos!

7 TIPS FOR LOOKING YOUR BEST IN PHOTOS

A question that my girlfriends constantly ask, is how I always look great in all my photos.  Haha, if only they saw all the ones that I toss!! I wish that there was one secret tip that instantly made all of us look like a Victoria’s Secret model, but totally not realistic right? *Looks to the side* Or is there?? Haha just kidding.  I have taken thousands of photos since I started The Fashionable Accountant and I have learned a few tips and tricks overtime about how I look my best in 99% of them.  So lets dive right in and don’t forget to take some notes in case these are some new pointers for you!!

7 TIPS FOR LOOKING YOUR BEST IN PHOTOS

  1. Make sure you have done a Makeup trial run.  Most people think this only applies on your wedding day, but to be honest this is a tip for any important photo shoot.  If you are a makeup artist, or beauty blogger then I can understand playing into the trends, but if you are not then stick to simple looks that showcase you.  You want to look like the best version of yourself and focus on the best features to highlight.  Make sure to go with the color palette that you know works best for your skin and hair, that way if you look at this photo 10 years from now, you aren’t doing that 80’s cringe what was I thinking face!
  2. Stay Hydrated.  Make sure you are staying away from sodium and sugar filled foods the night before your photo shoot because they will only make you feel tired and puffy! Also, make sure you are staying hydrated, so that you look refreshed in your photos, and because this summer heat is brutal! Hydration is super important for maintaining active and healthy lifestyles. vitaminwater zero has been my go to summer drink because I’m not a big water drinker. This is not only sugar free, but its also great tasting and provides hard-working hydration, vitamins and electrolytes for the 24/7 hustle. There are so many flavors including Rise and Squeezed which are my favorites. 7 TIPS FOR LOOKING YOUR BEST IN PHOTOS
  3. Show your swan neck.  Girl this trick is your BFF.  When you put those shoulders back, turn your head slightly to the side and stick out your chin, your neck looks slender, longer, and you wont have any double chin sneaking in there. 7 TIPS FOR LOOKING YOUR BEST IN PHOTOS
  4. Never point your toes out, always point in.  If your posing while standing by pointing your toes inwards and sticking your butt back a bit will give you that coveted thigh gap pose you see on so many bloggers. We do actually eat, we don’t have stick legs haha. Also, twisting your torso a bit to the side gives the appearance of a smaller waist, or if you are like myself and have more of a boyish figure, just a waist. 7 TIPS FOR LOOKING YOUR BEST IN PHOTOS
  5. No chicken wings.  So many of us are guilty of the standard hands on the hips pose, and it’s just as cliché as the duck face is now.  Let me guess…you feel awkward and don’t know how to pose, or where to place your hands.  Act natural and move around just like you do normally. Perhaps, place a hand in your pocket, or just let your arms hang naturally at your sides and smile. Holding something in your hand is a great way to force your hands and arms to be natural, see how holding my vitaminwater helps to give my hands something to do? 7 TIPS FOR LOOKING YOUR BEST IN PHOTOS
  6. Smizing.  I want to say this is a Tyra Banks term, which means allowing the smile to meet your eyes. You want to smile big enough that it doesn’t look fake, but not too big that your whole face scrunches up. Show emotion and happiness more in your eyes and your whole face will be smiling. Have your photographer say funny things to make you actually laugh and smile. FLAMINGO ROMPER BLOGHER17
  7. Golden Hour. My best friend is magic hour/golden hour.  The lighting at this time of day is perfect because the sun is low in the sky and casts an even lighting across the land (I sound like a fairy tale narrator). It’s simply magical and you can get photos that just look glowing and beautiful. Plus it’s cooler and you are hunting for the shade. Pretty much all of my favorite photos have been shot during golden hour.

P.S. If you are a color coordinator like myself, then the great thing about vitaminwater, is that it comes in every color of the rainbow and you can always find one to match your outfit!! I was feeling creative and purchased vitaminwater zero in Power-C Dragonfruit since I had pops of red in my outfit!
