STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

A few months ago I joined a really great group of women called Style Collective. When I first joined, it was simply because my friend Maya had told me I should join and that they help you grow as a blogger. I didn’t really know too much about the site, or the woman, Annie Spano, that created Style Collective. More recently, I started reading the site more and discovering all the great things to help us bloggers grow. I also started reading about Annie and everything she has done to help our group that she started. Then, when I saw that she needed volunteers to be regional leaders for the different major cities that Style Collective members are in, I virtually raised my hand. I knew with my love for meeting other women, drinking mimosas, and planning events, that this would be a great way for me to help out.

Then, this month, Annie launched the first Style Collective podcast, “Becoming Fearless“. She launched this podcast on her birthday and wanted all the women in different cities to get together and celebrate, discuss the podcast and we could grow together. Myself and Kim, the other Orlando regional leader, were completely on board for planning a meet up. After we did a doodle poll and got a Saturday date, we knew a Brunch would be the best choice! So much team work went into this event and I thought it would be great to share with you how you can plan a girls brunch on a budget. You don’t have to overspend to have a good time and make it a great event.

LOCATION & FOOD

The very first task was finding the right location. We wanted a place that would be able to easily fit about 15 people and of course have an option for unlimited mimosas!! Luckily we found the perfect brunch spot at The Stubborn Mule in downtown Orlando. They had a great brunch menu, reasonably priced, and only $10 for unlimited mimosas. All the ladies paid for their own meals which keeps the cost down, since we didn’t have to try to pay to have anything catered. The restaurant was kind enough to give us three different appetizers for free, so that we could try a bit more of their menu.

They also had a private room that we used. This was a great way to be able to keep our conversation to ourselves and stay away from the noise of the restaurant. There wasn’t a charge for the room either, just a food minimum, which was easy to meet since we had a group over ten. Make sure to check around with restaurants about room options.

How yummy looking is what I ordered?! I definitely want to go back and try something else off the menu.

DECOR & DELEGATING

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

A good leader knows what their strong suits are and when they should delegate. I mean one person, even two can’t necessarily do it all. I am so glad that we have our decor Queen, The Style Delegate Maya (haha delegate and delegate, ok yes I’m a dork) on our squad. Maya, Kim, and I went shopping together in order to split the costs. We had a plan in mind focusing on items we can reuse, the Style Collective color scheme of blush and gold, plus we stopped first in the dollar section of Target because we were trying not to spend too much.

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

We made a list ahead of time of what everyone already had that we could bring and since Maya had already hosted an event before she was a great source. Why buy something if on of your girls has something you can use! Then we thought about which items we could DIY and Kim made the vases from mason jars. We used Style Collective printables and printed them at home. I also created a sign that we can use for all of our events! I created an image using Photoshop and then had it printed at Walmart as a 20 x 30 poster. Then I used spray adhesive and attached it to a foam poster board from Dollar Tree. This cost me less than $20!

GOODY BAGS & PRIZES

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

This was a complete team effort. We were very lucky to all have different contacts to partner with and we each reached out to someone in order to have so fun items for all the ladies to take home with them. In exchange for some social media shout outs five lovely brands gave some gifts for the ladies to have.

Magpie Naturals, a local beauty company gave everyone homemade bath bombs and soap. Laila happens to be an ambassador for Shoe Dazzle, so they sent a couple goodies, plus a gift card to raffle. An upcoming local candy company called Sky Candy gave us homemade lollipops and those were divine. Origins gave us some samples of their top sellers, plus a free mini facial. Finally, our awesome Style Collective Sis Mikaela, owner of Mikaela J Designs, made us custom wine glasses! How cute are all of these items!!

PHOTOGRAPHY

STYLE COLLECTIVE: PLANNING A GIRLS BRUNCH ON A BUDGET

There is no need to hire a photographer for an event. Request that everyone take photos using their phones and cameras and then share them in a Dropbox after the event. Just make sure to give credit where credit is due! Plus we had a lovely waitress who took our group photos outside. Then we all helped each other out taking photos so we had some cute pictures of our outfits!! Girls just wanna have fun!!

I hope some of these tips can help you plan a girls brunch! If you love decor as much as I do, then you should head over tomorrow to Maya’s blog, The Style Delegate to see how she beautified the room we used for the brunch and her decorating tips!

9 BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS #MYPERFECTWORLD

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

The other week, I was invited to a product launch event for Origins by Preen.me and it was so much fun! One of the items they are doing all the time in store is mini facials and they are free!! Heck yes!! I didn’t get one that day, but my friend Ashley did and she enjoyed it, plus she purchased a few products to help with her skin.

They were doing white tea readings, because the new Perfect World collection is made with white tea, and caricature sketches. Check mine out, I thought it was pretty cute!

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

I picked up a really nice gift set for my mom for Mother’s Day while I was there. Since my mom is a big beach lover, I got her the Soothing Essentials to help with any redness and to help hydrate after being out in the sun.

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

As I was looking at the products, I realized these had SPF in them and would be the perfect items to pack for my trip to St. John in a month!! So, for all of you struggling with packing for a trip to the beach, here are my essentials that I will be packing.

#1 SPF MY PERFECT WORLD COLLECTION

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

Protecting your skin from the sun is extremely important. I don’t want to age too quickly, or be at risk for skin cancer, so I always make sure to wear SPF on my body and on my face. The Age Defense Moisturizer and the Age Defense Eye Cream from the Perfect World collection both have SPF in them and are my number one item now when I am soaking up some sun. I also will be bringing their cleanser, toner, body wash, and moisturizer so that I can take care of my body from head to toe!! All of the Perfect World products smell so good too.

#2 SUNGLASSES

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

You need to protect your eyes when you are at the beach as well. The sun bouncing off the ocean makes everything so much brighter. I don’t like to bring a really expensive pair of sunglasses to the beach though, so I love A.J. Morgan Eye wear because they are all under $25. Here are a few pairs that I am currently loving, since mine are no longer available.

#3 FAVE TOWEL

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

I like to have a towel, that is large enough to lay out on and pretty thick to dry me off really well. I had really been wanting one of the large soft Turkish beach towels, but they are normally around $50. However, I got these two at Nordstrom Rack for only $25 (now they have gone down to $19.97) and I am so excited to take them to St. John.

#4 JELLY SANDALS

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

I like jelly sandals for the beach, because they wont get damaged by the sand, or water. They also dry off really well and heck you can even wear them in the water if you feel like there are too many shells hurting your feet. How cute are these Jack Rogers and ones with bows!! I have started creating quite a collection haha.

#5 BOOK

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

I don’t like to use my phone too much on the beach because it gets too hot and its hard to see the screen with how bright the sun is. I always bring a good book, so that I can sun tan and relax without feeling bored. Here is the last book that I read, which I thought was really good. I am a romance novel junkie. I still need to find a book for my beach trip.

#6 BEACH HAT

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

I always bring a beach hat because I try to keep the sun off my face as much as possible. I found this hat when I was picking up some photos from Walmart and since it was less than $10 it was a great buy!! Plus I am going to spruce it up a bit and add sequin ribbon onto the wording and pom pom trip around the band.

#7 PORTABLE CHARGER

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

Being a blogger, I am always on my phone and my Ipad. There have been so many times that my phone has died on me and that can be so frustrating if I then really need it. So, if I am going somewhere that I know a phone plug won’t be easily accessible, like the beach, I make sure to bring my portable charging bank.

#8 WATERPROOF PHONE CASE

Phones are an expensive piece of equipment. The last thing we want after a day at the beach, is to have to replace a smart phone because of sand, or water damage. I purchased one of these waterproof phone cases off Amazon and it has been so amazing for at the beach.

#9 BEACH BAG

BEACH TRIP ESSENTIALS MY PERFECT WORLD

Finally, you can’t forget your beach bag to put all of your beach essentials in. I have two that I use a lot. These are a couple years old from Payless, so I had to link something similar. These were less than $12 when I purchased them and I had to have both since I love both flamingos and pineapples haha. Here are three really cute ones from Francesca’s I am currently LOVING!!!

I hope this list helps you when you are packing for your beach trip! My perfect world is full of sunshine and laughter, not so much the sand part haha!! Remember the most important item is SPF and Origins has such amazing products that will hydrate and protect your skin. Whats your favorite beach essential?

*Disclosure: The Perfect World collection was gifted to me by Preen.me for attending the Origins product launch event, but all opinions are my own.

MOTHER’S DAY GIFT GUIDE FOR YOUNG MOMS

Mother's Day Gift Guide for Young Moms

Are you tired of getting the same cookie cutter Mother’s Day gifts year after year? Or, are you just stuck on what to buy a young and fashionable mom, when macaroni necklaces just aren’t going to cut it? Then, I have a great round up of 6 Mother’s Day gifts for the young moms in your life. Just because this gift guide is geared towards millennial moms, doesn’t mean that many moms of all ages wouldn’t like these gifts too.

For the home decor loving mom, get her a fashionable trinket tray. This is something she could use in the living room, on the foyer table, in the bathroom, or on her vanity. I bet it looks great in flat lay photos as well. In white and gold, this trinket tray will go with everything.

Do you know a mom, who loves to cook and when life gives her lemons, she makes lemonade? If so, then this Kate Spade recipe book is the perfect gift for her! Lemon print is so in for spring and this recipe book is on sale right now for 30% off!!

For that peach of a mom and beauty junkie, get her the new Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette. This is a gift that she can use all year long. Plus Ulta has a deal right now that when you purchase the palette you get a free Better Than Sex Mascara, also all orders $35 or more get free shipping!!

Don’t buy her a necklace with a big fat MOM right on it, well perhaps some moms really want that haha. I prefer jewelry that I can wear with many outfits. I love wearing delicate necklaces that I can layer, and since layering is so in right now, why not try one of these classic necklaces by Dogeared.

These each come with a cute Mom message on them, so they really are a great Mother’s Day gift.

All moms need some cute lounge gear. These really cute PJ sets from PJ Salvage are the perfect addition to any moms wardrobe. They have so many fun patterns for every type of mom. Whether your mom is a wine lover, cat/dog owner, coffee addict, or like myself a collector of all things pineapple, there is a PJ set for her.

Finally, if you want to buy mom a fancy gift, then why not stop off at Lancome and get her a bottle of luxury perfume!! The thing that is so cool about purchasing from Lancome, is that they do engravings on the perfume bottles. This is a great way to make her gift more personal and she can keep the bottle for decor even after the perfume is gone!! Here are a few of my favorite scents.

I hope this Mother’s Day gift guide for young moms helps you as you are shopping for the hip and stylish mom in your life. I’ve included a variety of items at different price points, that way there is something for every budget. Remember in the end it’s not about the gifts but showing mom how much she is appreciated and loved, that’s what she will really cherish. I would love to hear if you have any other creative suggestions for Mother’s Day gifts, or if something here has sparked your interest.

Happy Saturday!!
